HOW TO LIVE GREENER AND HEALTHIER… ON A BUDGET

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]This blog post is written by the amazing Mimmi from Sea Straws[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]I can’t afford to go to the gym or eat healthily. I don’t understand what sustainable living is. Can you relate? Well, then this blog post is for you!

We all know that our planet and wildlife is suffering from our unsustainable way of living. Greed and laziness are at the forefront but pointing fingers is leading us nowhere. We need to start looking at ourselves. There’s a misconception that being healthy and living a more sustainable life is expensive. I’m about to prove you wrong.

Here are five sustainable and healthy tips that everyone can afford…

1. Buy takeaway but choose “better”

What about two rolls of Sushi? It will cost you around $5.50 plus they’re the perfect lunch size (stick to two rolls, no more). Remember to skip any plastic containers and aim for vegan sushi.

2. Find hidden fruit/veg gems

We have a fruit shop around the corner that sells fruit and veg classified as “seconds” by the large food chains. The fruit and veg are perfectly fine and we pay a reduced price. Do some research and see what’s available in your city. By mindfully choosing where to buy healthy groceries will save you a lot of money!

3. Introduce meat-free days

Meat is expensive and hard for your body to digest. Swap the meat for vegetables a few days a week and both your body, wallet, and the planet will thank you!

4. Bike to work

It’s free and it keeps you fit, what else would you want?!

5. Exercise with a friend

Staying active can be hard on your own so make sure to team up with a friend to keep each other accountable. Jogging together a couple of times a week can provide amazing results combined with healthy eating. You don’t have to sign up to expensive gym memberships to get fit, all you have to do is to commit and keep going.

Hey, that doesn’t sound that hard, does it? Screenshot this list and refer back to it when motivation gets low. You got this!
